If you have a newer model smart phone, you can buy a lens adapter for your phone that will give you a wide angle feature. Not sure exact cost as it depends on your phone, but you can get one for under $40 for sure. That's all you really need to get a decent picture. Some photographers will Photoshop fire into a fire place etc. but otherwise you can use your basic editing tools on your phone to "brighten" the place up as it were. 

Granted, it won't be quite as nice as something a Canon 5DMiii might take with some nice glass but it'll def be more than nice enough for what you need.

Hi J - is there an audio version of your book available for purchase? I know I know, I just find I can get a lot more done if I'm listening to books while doing all the mundane other stuff that needs to get done in life (i.e. weekend cleaning/exercising/commuting to work/etc)
