Hey David, Welcome to BP! I'm in the same boat as you in terms of my REI experience. There's so much to learn so it's great you're getting started now. There's also a meet-up every month that Roger Lin and a few other great people set up. Come out and get to know a few like-minded people. I just started looking into deals in the Baltimore and Richmond areas. They seem to have good ROIs for buy and holds if you find a decent working class neighborhood. Lisa Phillips has a ton to say about it on her video blog. Since you went to Hopkins, I'm sure you have a lot of familiarity in that area. I'll shoot you over a colleague request. Stay in touch!

My name is Au and I'm really excited to be a part of BP. It's great that everyone seems so eager to help. My brother and I currently own a seafood restaurant in Arlington, VA and real estate knowledge definitely goes hand and hand with retail leases, purchasing property for expansion, site selection, etc. I find the real estate industry extremely interesting, so my goal is to get as much knowledge as possible specifically in aspects of commercial real estate, general real estate investing, and developing.
