Brian Achar as an investor and Real estate broker. The beat thing to do is get an attorney and have him deal with the attorney on the other end. There is definitely red flags with them claiming that you changed locks and then throwing the 4k to move in the mix. Call Chris Titcomb he is a RE attorney and can at best guide you in the right direction.

Joett Ocasio my opinion is to stay in the city for better resale value. There’s a lot of options when buying in the city, its important to know what your long term needs are. Looking for great appreciation, large up front returns, or looking to house hack. Each requires a different area in the city to invest in, let me know if you need more info. Best

Matt Shields I have them 15’ from each bedroom in my units as this is a code requirement. However I choose to use the combo packs that have a 10 year battery life span. This allows me not to worry about them in the event the tenant decides to remove a battery and last a decade without replacement. You can find a 2pack at depot for about 80 bucks.

Chris Titcomb is who you need. I’ve been in Real Estate for 10 years and Chris is who I recommend! He’s aggressive, knows the law, and communicates. You’d be sold short to use anyone else.

I doesn’t hurt, buyers like additional rooms in the basement especially when you have a bath, would be good for resale.

Hi Alexander Chavez I would recommend Daniel Cullen from Domicile. I use them for all inspections and they are by far the best. Very service focused and industry pros. I see he posted on this thread, but had to give Domicile a shout out as I was going to recommend them anyway.

Matt Bachula I know two investors who do just that. They build multi unit properties and rent them out at a premium. They purchase in the Edgebrook and Jeff Park areas and have had much success. However, they have the builds down to a science. At any rate, I personally don't see anything wrong with building new or buying and rehabbing. The biggest problem I see with both building new and rehabbing is lack of a good plan and budget, this makes or breaks the deal. Another think to consider is what your ultimate plan is...if you want to flip the property, then rehab a multi unit, there'll be more profit. (If it's done right)
