@Beau Fannon - I'm looking at all in of roughly $500k. Unlikely to do downtown Austin but Eanes ISD or RRISD Great Hills area seems like top candidates.

@Austin Stowell - thank you. That seems a bit steep but its good to know where the price range is. My biggest issue with option 3 would be the timeframe as we can rent for a while but need to get into the home by fall latest. Based on what you said it seems like Option 1 and 2 are the most relevant.

Will DM you for contact details.

Hi all - looking for some general information on building costs in Austin.

I'm looking to move here and the first purchase will likely be a single family home as a primary residence.

I have three options:

1. Buy something ready to move-in

2. Buy a fixer upper

3. Buy land or a complete tear-down candidate.

Whats missing for me is the approximate timeframes and costs of construction and rehabilitations in Austin. Does anyone here have a sense of that?

I'm sure that part of the response will be "it depends on location and type of build" - I'm just looking for a range right now so I can figure out what would be the best strategy.

Hi all - I'm a newbie investor. Have been lurking around on the forums for a while but now feel like I want to get a bit deeper into the discussions. Currently in NYC but moving to ATX likely this summer.

So a big hi from me and thanks in advance for any advice that you throw my way...
