Is it best to buy and sell during a recession? Or do you buy in a recession and wait until the market is back up? I heard we are due for one?

I have a nonprofit organization that is designed to grow and rebuild communities from donations and grants; and will encompass an apprenticeship program were youth will gain experience and be certified to better their future all while increasing community value and better homes for those who are in need. Any ideas on this? And am I on to something?

I'm from Muskegon, MI. I joined the Navy and moved to Virginia and now Hawaii. I'm moving to San Diego soon and I've been wanting to buy a house for years now. I'm going to be patient and educate myself. I'm learning a lot on this website and getting new resources from the podcast daily. Just visited the J Scott 123flip.com. I'm excited with all the help that's available it's quite overwhelming but it's the only thing that's going to get me over my fear. My fear is buying a house and not being able to sell it or even lease it.
