@Syed Lateef thank you for the information, I will definitely do some research. I was looking for something near Michigan Avenue to enjoy and invest in.

@Alex Fraher thanks for the information also. Not sure I'm ready for a multi family since I want something I can vacation in as well.

Does anyone know of any good management companies handling vacation rentals in Chicago?  I live in St. Louis and have been thinking of buying a condo in Chicago. I would like to use it for vacations, mainly in the summer, and would like a property management company who could handle some of the maintenance (cleaning etc). I would like to do it through Airbnb and know that ratings are crucial to acquiring good renters.

35k homes in st. louis are pretty dangerous. I think if people understood the areas, they would be willing to spend more to get good cash flow as well as better long term potential. I buy in good school district areas such as O'fallon, Lake St.Louis, and Wentzville and find a lot of competition with hedge funds buying up properties. I don't think you would have trouble selling them if you could find ones that would make the numbers work. I'm always looking for turnkey properties in these areas.

@Megan Greathouse, I ran into the same issue when i was looking near Wash U. There was enough room for more then 3 but i couldn't have more then 3 unrelated people on the lease. I decided to pass, but that was a few years ago. Hope you have better luck.

@Megan Greathouse i use property management as well, i haven't ventured into multifamily yet, have stuck to suburban single family rentals

@David Zheng thats a great area, but it must be quite old, is it a rehab, at 290 making that rent, i guess i can't figure out how. I've looked at a lot of condo's in the area but none of the numbers seem to work with condo fees. Even tried to airbnb
