Has anyone ever heard of “Richmond American Homes” ? I’ve seen and heard NOTHING but bad, horrible things about them. The new construction neighborhood we are looking at (were looking at) was built by them and I think I wanna steer very far away from them just based off reviews. Ever heard the name of those builders?? Looking specifically in Hagerstown Maryland In “Hager’s crossing” Thanks!!

@Sam Lewis why is that for the new construction? Are there things I should look out for with lower priced such as the $250-300k range? The 500k+ is out of our budget of course. Thank you for the reply!

Hello! My wife and I are moving to Maryland soon! We are looking to buy a home on the VA loan in either Hagerstown, Frederick, Or Waynesboro PA. (More than likely Hagerstown). Wondering about Mello Roos, are they common there? What should I expect? Is new construction worth it if priced well? Our cap is $270k based off my own calculations to what we will afford together (priced in with property tax utilities, flexibility with pay, etc) and found quite a few under it, obviously the lower the better.. but not sure anything about HOA or Mello Roos..

My wife and I are looking to move to Maryland in the upcoming years. We know we will be there for a few years but not forever. The area I will be working is Camp David. I plan on buying a home to live in but eventually become a rental property when we leave. I’ve never bought a home before and have basic knowledge of the rental business after reading a few books and speaking with realtors.

My question is, what is a good place in the surrounding areas that you could suggest? 1) for living and 2) for renting later.

I’ve been looking at Frederick, Hagerstown, and Thurmont as well as even Waynesboro to travel across state lines depending on taxes and overall costs.

Our key features are, schools of course, quality of life, things to do, as well as statistical data for appreciation and rent/own ratio.

Thank you all in advance and I look forward to the future!

I want to be a real estate investor when I move out of California, but for now I am renting. My question is, is it offensive to negotiate prices with landlords? Or is it set to what it is and that’s it.. I know like selling and buying homes you can negotiate, but what about renting? Such as reassurance of a good family with no destruction history etc, to make us more desirable, and instead of $2600 a month I could ask for $2500 a month for a year of rent Or something like that. Is it offensive and wasting my time? Or is it worth a shot?

@Melanie McDaniel whenever that would be, I would be happy to watch it!😃

@Melanie McDaniel I would love to join in once I move to Virginia! I still have just about a year here in California tho 😃

@Kenny Dahill very much appreciated response! Thank you!
