Hi BiggerPockets Community! 👋

My name is Anthony, and I’m an investor based in East Hartford, Connecticut. I currently own a 3-unit multifamily property, and I’m actively looking to expand my portfolio while building meaningful connections with like-minded investors in CT.

I’m particularly interested in:

  • Wholesalers: If you’ve got off-market deals, I’d love to hear from you.
  • Creative Financing Opportunities: Subject-to deals and seller financing are right up my alley.
  • Networking and Partnerships: I’m eager to collaborate with other investors who share a passion for creative deal-making and scaling our businesses together.

Whether you’re an experienced investor, just starting out, or anywhere in between, let’s connect! I’d love to exchange insights, explore deals, and help each other grow.

Feel free to DM me or comment below. Let’s turn ideas into action! 🚀

Looking forward to connecting with you all!

- Anthony

Thank you everyone! There is no lease at this moment, but thank you all for your feedback. I don’t want to get in trouble for doing shady landlord business. I will move forward and keep you updated

Quote from @Scott M.:

Each state and maybe even more localized than that will have their own rules for determining abandoned property.  Call a lawyer with landlord/tenant experience and ask them.  They will give you the 10 things you need to do that local courts will rule in your favor should there be an issue down the road.

You can also post notice (according to your laws) and then enter the unit to see what is going on in the inside.  This will no doubt be one of the steps the lawyer will give you but if you want to do that before a lawyer, you can.  You are allowed to post and enter.

Thank you! I will contact a lawyer I appreciate the post

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased my first rental unit on 1/28/22 located in Hartford, CT.

I met most of the tenants except the 1st floor. While doing the showing I was told the first floor tenants were out of country and potentially might stay there. This was in December, the old seller said 1st floor paid for December.

Now since I bought the property on January the last seller informed me 1st flood didn’t pay for January. Now it’s February and I still have not been able to contact the first floor tenant.

What should I do? I am worried about the pipes being frozen since no one has been in the unit for about 3 months.

I want to do everything legit. I don’t want to do anything shady. I was told to wait for a bit and other say to start the eviction process. I was also told to send them a letter stating I will be changing the locks. Before doing that I want to know if that’s legal. If I give them plenty of time of notice. I will be giving them a copy I’m not going to change it and not give them a copy.

Also I did see the unit before buying the house. It’s in good condition. I am a new landlord and I want to solve this as soon as possible.

Any help is good thank you very much!

Hello everyone,

I live in Connecticut. My dad spoke with another landlord and they said they make their tenants pay for the water. They made separate water meters for the tenants. I been trying to do my own research but don’t have any luck. Does anyone have any experience with this? If so please let me know who I can do this for my property? Much appreciated.

I have a property in Hartford, Connecticut.

Thank you in advance.

Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to read this. This is my first post on bigger pockets. I am Anthony and I live in Connecticut. Let me start that I am buying my first multi family. I am using FHA financing and planning on living on the third floor and house hacking for about 2 years. I am very nervous because I never done this before. I'm also excited because I'm taking the steps to build wealth. Just thinking about buying the house brings anxiety, chills and excitement.

My question is this... the first floor tenant is an issue for the current owner. I do not know the exact detail but what I know is that she is behind rent. What should I do? FYI... I can’t start the eviction process in CT until January 2021 because of COVID. Now I understand that this tenant could be a nightmare for the current owner but be good for me. If I have to I will be mean but that is not my approach. I want to help in good faith. One last thing I forgot to mention... this is a short sale. I am waiting for approval for the bank. What are your experiences? What will you do in this situation? Any information will be great!

Thank you 😄
