That is awesome @Justin May. I'm currently in the same situation. Had good income from the coal mines, bought toys and never invested. Well Government being how Government is I lost the job. Picked up Dave Ramsey couple years later, learned a few things and wanted to snow ball that. Next book was RichDad Poor Dad, which I heard really good things about. After reading that book I'v been hard core in the real estate education portion since last November. Trying to get my finances together to go into a duplex with in the year of 2018. We should connect sometime, might be able to bounce some ideas an concerns off each other.

If you have a meet up in the area I definitely would like to attend. I'm a new investor myself and currently trying to network with people that have experience to get off on the right foot. Partnering is starting to look like the right way to go.

Whats holding me back is financing, and finding a right deal. Also not 100% sure where to even start. Been gathering as much information as possible, reading books, listening to podcasts, and attending REI meetings. I'm one of those who needs to know as much as possible so I don't make a huge mistake. Made some mistakes in my younger days that are also holding me back a bit. I'm really looking to find the right person to work with to get some learning experience before heading off on my own.
