Hello everyone my name is Andrew, but my friends call me Maldy. Ive been in the army for 14 years now (joined right after high school, I'm currently 32 years old). I have zero experience with real estate other than buying our first primary residence while in Colorado Springs then selling it when we PCS'd (move from one location to another because Uncle Sam said so), It was done with the VA loan. On a side note, my wife and I checked out the property we bought in Colorado and man has it gone up in price, I sure wish we kept it as a rental but my mind wasn't on investing like it is now. Anyways, I've already read the BiggerPockets book on Rental Property Investing but I'm reading it again to let more of it sink in. After I finish the book I wanna take a look at the UBG. I currently live in Stafford Virginia (near Quantico, Woodbridge, and Fredericksburg all south of Washington DC). Currently im pending possible orders to Lakeland, FL but nothing is solidified.... more to follow on that.

My plan is to learn as much as possible before I make my first none primary residence purchase (I wanna buy in Lakeland then rent out when I leave). I started reading the book back in Nov 2018 so I feel hopefully a year from that time I should be good to go. I know I’m not going to be perfect and I know I won’t know everything but I just want to feel more comfortable and confident with knowledge. Being that I’m over 30 I feel like I owe myself time to learn and not repeat the same mistakes as others. On top of the books, I’m on episode 24 of the podcasts which has been an invaluable source of information for me. Hopefully this gives a quick once over about me, looking forward to building relationships with other people and being part of a large community such as BiggerPockets.
