Welcome Jalisha! I’m a newbie in Tampa myself, I have to echo the advice above that staying consistent and doing a little bit every single day is the best thing you can do to get started. There are a lot of great REI groups in this area (Larry Harbolt’s is particularly good from what I’ve been told, they meet Mondays at 7 PM in Pinellas Park), you’ll definitely want to start making face to face connections so you can get the ball rolling in the real world.

Don’t worry, there’s a lot of really good local beer too!

@brian varmuza you can see the TBREIA schedule(s) at TBREIA.com, they have a bunch spread out throughout each month depending on your location/schedule. Devin Beverage thanks! I had planned to attend the 13 November TBREIA meeting in Brandon but had to cancel, I’m looking to catch one in December. I’ll definitely look into Larry’s group as well.

Mikhail Andrade I haven’t yet, but I’ve got a couple of things on the calendar in the next week or two. I’ll let you know how they turn out!

Happy Friday everybody!  I'm an active duty US Navy Chief Petty Officer, brand-new BPer and real estate enthusiast, I got turned on to this whole game (and BiggerPockets) at the suggestion of a coworker shortly after I moved to Tampa back in July.  I'm a voracious consumer of the BP Podcast and just about every book they've mentioned on there, I find the possibilities of real estate to be absolutely fascinating!

I don't have any real capital to jump in with at the moment, my wife isn't able to work right now so my single income doesn't stretch as far as it used to.  Until we can get a down payment together I'm working toward getting my real estate license so I can get involved in the industry in my off time from the day job.  I'm also looking for any real estate professionals who would be willing to let me work for/with them on a part-time basis as an assistant, "bird dog", or whatever they might need so I can get some real world experience.

I look forward to getting to know everyone!
