Thanks everyone for the responses! I’m currently looking to purchase a condo with the goal of staying there for a few years before purchasing a house and leaving the condo as a rental property. For those of you with experience in the Norwich and New London rental marker, what do you thinking of this approach? Do you see potential for rents to increase in this area given the growth at EB or can you see rents staying steady/decreasing in the 5-10 year time frame? Is this a terrible idea all together?!

Hi everyone, I’m new to the real estate investing world and am looking to get started! This will be my first property and am constrained to the eastern side of Connecticut plus Middletown. I am looking to purchase something as a primary residence that I can keep long term as a rental property.  I’m currently considering Norwich and nearby towns, Middletown, Meriden and west Hartford. I would love to hear the communities thoughts on the real state market in the area.
