I feel like it'd be less risky to get the rental in case I get trapped in home with an upside down mortgage. Thoughts?

I'm on the same boat. New investor and will be buying my first rental OOS. ( California is hard for cash flow ). I'm leaning towards a 4plex in INDY ( class C+ or B ) to start or if I should get first a SFH ...

@Andrey Y. That’s my 2 goals; less taxes ( or no taxes ) and cash flow. I’m a business owner and paid last year over $50k in taxes. I don’t own any rental property at this moment but that’s y I’m here to learn and networking with you guys. Figuring it out what market to start my rentals. I Live in California not a good place to create that cash flow but doing my homework and I want to have that experience pretty soon

Why market do you want to invest in?

i'm still researching the market. I didn't decide yet and that's my concern about turnkeys I see so many complaints its pretty bad. I think the best thing to do now is decided the state to invest and then ask for referrals

@Nick Giulioni thank you! I might need to start with turn key to learn then go with a realtor. Would you mind sharing your experience with turn key company and referral too? Thank you once again Nick!
