@Ola Dantis I’m a rather disciplined individual thanks to my background as a former college/professional athlete and upbringing. I also have goals I want to teach and this is a step in the process therefore I know I’ll be alright.

You say you have only used it once, so I must ask what route did you take to where you are now and what made you get it in the first place? Lol

@Ben Grotzke I too am working full time at the moment which is part of why I’ve been contemplating in the first place. Which topic/areas you spent the most time on?

@Joe Norman that’s great to hear. I’ve heard that literally 80-90% of people who start out are done after 2 years, so it makes sense when you put it that way. I appreciate the support!

@Account Closed I have come across Troyer as of been conducting research on where to take the course at. Would you mind me asking if you know anything about either Tucker School of Real Estate or Real University? Thank you very much for the well wishes!

@Stacy Preston okay I was wondering how the 90 hours was regulated with respect to people taking the online courses. So essentially I could read through the given textbook at the pace I wanted, but would still be held to the course’s schedule. I guess the way I see it is, I’d think online I’d be able to complete the course daily if I wanted as opposed to the given 3-4 times a week I have found.

@Stacy Preston I have started looking into RECP this week and was wondering what their program was like. I’m assuming you couldn’t just read and go through the slides at your own pace?

I am new to the industry but have been doing some research on my own about the industry so I have somewhat of a base to go off of going into the course. Would you happen to know anything about Upstar’s program by chance would you?

@Tyler Gibson that makes sense. I am going to go ahead and start reaching out to get  a feel of what all the different brokers around me have to offer and get to know them. That’s neat that you found your mentor that way, I can only hope to do something similar in the future. I want to thank you again for your insight and advice Tyler

@Brad Miller @Tyler Gibson you both make a very good point. I was leaning toward online but ha second thoughts but you both have helped me solidify my decision. I have been part of different groups here in Fort Wayne including an REIA which has a meetup tomorrow that I'll be attending.

Tyler, I know you said that you pretty much had a broker and mentor lined up already. I’m assuming you went ahead and started making contact while you were still taking the pre-license course?

Brad I’m curious to know if you already knew which broker you were going to work with before starting your courses?

@Tyler Gibson I appreciate your insight. You’re absolutely correct with the idea that anything worth it requires work. The flexibility is what I would enjoy. I like to think i could finish quicker than the in person class. Moreover I wouldn’t have to commit to physically being in a class room for that period of time.  My worry would be losing out on the useful in class discussions and people i could meet at the time. Would you say having taken the online route, you still felt you came out ready to go?

@Brad Miller I too was thinking that i would be able to complete the course faster online than in person. As I mentioned above, I wouldn’t want to miss out on networking possibilities as well as different conversations in class. Or would you say that same opportunity would be better served connecting with those while working?

Again thanks guys

I have decided I am going to get my real estate license. The only decision I have left is whether or not to take the class in person, or if I should take an online course allowed by the state of Indiana.

I was wondering what some of your opinions are as far as which route you would suggest to someone new to the industry and looking to start my investing career?

Thanks in advance!

@Ritch Bonisa as a fellow introvert this is absolutely incredible to see. It’s taken years for me to learn how to slowly get more and more outside of my comfort zone. Sometimes all it takes is a plan to be prepared for a conversation/meetup/event and you feel more confident just like that!

@Marc Winter thank you for the advice. I figured there is a wealth of information that can be learned about real estate as a whole but more specifically what is and isn't allowed while being an agent as well as wholesaler. I actually am excited to be going to my first REIA meetup next week. I have made sure to take note about inspecting as much as possible. Out of curiosity do you have any recommendations as the best approach/place to learn to do so?

I can’t thank you enough for your insightful responses today.

Take care!
