Hey all, haven't heard back yet and I fly out Saturday. I'd love to meet up with any investors in Miami to chat real estate while I'm in town for two weeks.

Hey all!

My sister and her soon to be husband successfully couples matched for doctor residencies in New Orleans! They will be moving there in the next couple months for the next five years at least.

My sister will be at LSU and he is going to Ochsner Clinic.

Any suggestions on which neighborhoods/zipcodes to live would be greatly appreciated! Also, does it make more sense to buy or rent for those 5 years? I'm starting the research too, but would love to hear from those with feet on the ground.

Cheers,

Andre

Thanks everyone for the tips! I'm hearing a lot of the same stuff and getting some ideas which is good :) Lots to keep in mind for sure, but sounds like lots to gain.

Hey Elia,

I'm still learning myself, but funnily enough I'll be in Miami for two weeks in April and then Florence, Italy for 4 weeks after that!

There's a lot of good info on BP about how to start with No or Low Money Down (have you read the book)?

I was thinking about getting a 4-plex in Miami myself but the market is pretty tight and prices are high right now :/

Hey Miami BP'ers,

I'll be in Miami for two weeks starting April 1st, then planning to live back there for at least August - December.

I'm new to REI and believe flipping a house makes the most sense for me to start. The goal is to flip my first property in that August-December timeframe.

Any flippers out there up to meet/network/grab coffee between April 1-14? I'd love to meet up and hear about any successes/failures/mistakes you've made along the way.

Cheers,

Andre

Hey guys, thanks for all the input!

After chatting with @Jack V. Ospina, some other friends, and doing some thinking, doing a flip (maybe two 😜) instead of buy-and-hold is starting to make a lot more sense for my situation.

@David Fernandez or anyone else,

...have you flipped in Miami? What was your experience like? How was it putting together a good team?

Thanks for all the info! Sounds like

1. a good GC makes all the difference in time needed and project quality

2. I shouldn't plan to live in

3. Aim to not lose money ;)
