Samantha M. I found driving for dollars hard for the reasons you mentioned the property I have under contract was FSBO. So I would recommend making contact as soon as you come across the sign. My mentor tells me you have to keep sending the letters to these absentee owners and keep searching the owners online (eg spokeo.com) for possible contact information new addresses phone numbers etc. I have sent numerous letter I have not gotten a reply as yet its only been 10-13 days since they were mailed so that probably why. Keep at it don't let the lack of replies discourage you.

Initially I intended to buy and hold/flip. Thanks to the many contributors on this website and the many articles for Newbies I was able to map a course as outlined in the beginners guide and seek a Mentor. I was able to find a Mentor whom has been investing in the DFW area for over 10 years now.

After meeting with her a number of times she challenged me to explore wholesaling first. Do at least three wholesale deals and begin to understand the process involved. To keep a longer story short I began driving for dollars and learning to evaluate properties and what may be a potential deal.

I got my first property under contract today and will be sending it to the title company on Monday. I read here over and over again that if you research enough on the website and follow the advice given anyone can do it as long as they execute. In less than 30 days of been a member of Bigger Pockets I got my first property under contract.

Thank you to my Mentor and Bigger Pockets, I hope to repeat the process many times!!!!

Carlos F. I studied at Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach. Not too familiar with the flight schools here in Dallas but two names that I have heard a lot are American Flyers and ATP flight school (Addison). Hope the info helps.

Hello I am McKenley,

I moved to DFW two year ago from the Caribbean. I am new to Texas and REI. I recently joined a local REI club and attended a number of meeting around town in search of knowledge.

Bigger Pockets was a name thrown around at more than one meeting and decided to check it out. Shout out to the creator of the website and all contributors, this is truly a great resource. I dove in head first at the wealth of knowledge and information here and have learned lot in the past few days with SO MUCH left to learn.

My goal is to buy and hold as well as flip. I am in the initial stages and thus educating myself on the processes of this industry. I have begun to network, as suggested in much of my readings, and hope to make further positive connections here as well.

I am a pilot and aircraft technician by profession and hope to one day hang up the wrenches, only fly for fun, and do REI full time.
