Hi @Paul Hector ,

Thanks for the belated independence greetings. Belated Independence greetings to you as well. Glad to see a fellow SKBer here on BP. It's a great community. I'm just getting started in REI and looking forward to doing my first deal.

Best regards,

Amicia

Welcome to the BP family @Dylan Boesch . You've come to the right place to learn about investing real estate.  @Darren Sager advice is spot on.

Find out about the REIAs in your area and if possible attend the meetings and become a member. I have also selected Dutchess county as the area where I will start my investing. I plan on starting out wholesaling to generate the cash to use for buy and hold later on. I've attended a couple of REIA meetings in Poughkeepsie and met some great people.

Best wishes with your real estate investing.

Welcome @Joshua Miller .  I'm a newbie investor looking to wholesale in Dutchess County and eventually move into buy and flip and buy and hold.  Although I do not live in the area, I do visit often.  When I visit I usually attend the local Real Estate Investors Association meeting.  The meeting I've attended thus far have been very interesting, and I've met some great people there as well.  My advice to you will be to attend the meetings and consider become a member.

Welcome to BP @Stephen Talaber . BP is a great community so rest assured that you've come to the right place. I'm a newbie too, looking to get started in wholesaling. Your background in construction and real estate should serve you well in the flipping business. However, from what I've read some of the best deals are not necessarily found in the MLS, so you will need to master other ways of finding motivated sellers. Also I've also heard that it sometimes take anywhere from 20 to 25 or more offers before you may have one accepted. So keep plugging away sending in those offers.

Best wishes with your REI.

Welcome to BP @Grace Warner .  Great to see another Kittitian here in the BP family. You are definitely in the right place to learn about real estate investing.  Be sure to read the The Ultimate Beginner's Guide to Real Estate Investing and the BP Community Book Real Estate Rewind.

You should also set up keyword alerts for topics that you are interested in.  If you have questions, do a search in the forums to see if your questions may have been answered previously.  If not, post your question as a new topic in the forum.

Best wishes in your real estate investing.

@Brett Synicky  I'm sure you will love the Caribbean when you visit.  Many first timers visit the Caribbean on a cruise to sample the various islands, then return as stay over visitors to their favorite places.  I've met some great folks from the US who first visited St. Kitts on a cruise and have been visiting annually since then.

Good luck with your investing.

Welcome to the BP family @Account Closed.  I am in a similar situation looking to pursue real estate investing long distance.  Only difference is that I would be doing this from outside of the US. I'd definitely like to hear about your experiences.

From what I've been learning, it seems as though having a trusted team on the ground is key. If possible try to connect with the REIA in the area as well.

Thank you all for the warm welcome to BP.  I am really enjoying reading though all the information that fellow BPers have shared.

@Ryan Huebinger  It's a a small world indeed. I remember the IWC meeting here in St. Kitts and all the activity surrounding it. Cockleshell Bay is a great location for romance.  I'm glad you were able to get engaged there.  Let me know if you are ever on island again.

@Russell Ponce  Thanks for the advice about focusing on a single strategy. My intention is to focus on wholesaling starting out and to use it to generate cash that I can use to buy some duplexes/triplexes/quads or perhaps a small apartment building to generate cash flow later on.  I will definitely check out Chris Chico and listen to the podcast.

@Charmaine M. Always a pleasure linking up with a fellow West Indian. Best wishes in your REI endeavours.

@Dmitriy Fomichenko I'm so glad I found BP. It's such a great REI resource. The best I've found thus far. Thanks for the reminder about keyword alerts. I've set some up already.

@Mark Perry  Thankfully Berta didn't pay us much attention.  Wind speed picked up and there was some rain, that's about it.  How's the TCI?

@Colleen F.  It's always good to meet others who know about St. Kitts.  Glad that you have fond memories of your time here. Any plans to visit any time soon?

I'm looking forward to interacting with the BP community.
