There is always going to be the good, bad and the ugly in any metropolitan area.

The only advice I have for an investor is come see Detroit for yourself, then you can make a determination if this is the place for you.

I don't believe people intentionally try to scare people away. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but the best thing is to let people form their own.

People that I have met that came here to see Detroit for themselves have stated that it is nothing like they heard about from other people or the media.

New York was a slum in the 70's and I'm sure it was all everyone talked about.

Detroit definitely has a long road ahead and without private investment it will not make a comeback.

There are opportunities for anyone looking to invest here. You just have to pick a niche and understand your risk vs reward.

If you're looking to buy a $1,000 house and rent it out your going to attract  $1,000 people.

There are many areas to invest in the metro detroit area. East, West, Downriver, North and inside the City. There is an abundance of Real Estate available here. Just pick an area based on your criteria, strategy and financials.

Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

@Luke Swab Hey, I am a Realtor in the Metro Detroit Area. I saw your post and I would like to assist you with your purchase. I can send you the sales contract if you provide an email address. There are a few other forms your going to need as well.

You can check out properties on my website at www.activehomeslist.com

Hey @Hannah Williams It sounds like there could be lack of communication.

As @J Scott stated if there wasn't a designated time or some type of compensation it may not have been the highest priority. Being a Realtor is not an on-demand service. That could have been his availabilty.

Hey@Nate Miersma I may have a wholesaler in your area that has properties. I will contact them to see if they are still active. I'll give you a call when I hear something.

Hey@Jerel GarnerDo you have the current owners address. It would be better to try to contact them and work a deal. If it goes to auction there are no gurantees that you will win the bid.

Hey@Luke Swab Welcome to BP. It's great that you made some mistakes. Those are the best teachers. I am in the Lansing area periodically. My daughter attends MSU. Feel free to contact anytime.
