James Bowerman Can you recommend who I should follow? Besides DjKhaled lol
John Hickey Great renovations! I'll have to say people like it when some break are left exposed- it gives the apartment a character. I'm a new agent in Williamsburg, it will be great if I can meet you someday and learn somethings from you? Thanks

Hi guys- My name is Ally, 27 years old from Brooklyn NY. I graduated from college in 2014 with BA in Economics, did consulting jobs for banks for 2 years plus my previous internships (total 4 years experience). Recently, my consulting contract ended and decided to take sometime off. On my time off, I was contemplating on finding my niche and do something that will make me happy for the rest of my life. I went and took my RE license (RE has always been a passion of mine), I applied for a job and last week I started working as an agent for RE broker in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I did this because I thought, this is a good way to transition my self into RE and learning the stuff while targeting for my future goal- which is to go into investing, specifically fix and flip. My question is, am I on the right track? What can I do more to reach my goal? And what's the best way to network with like minded individuals in NYC. Any advice is much appreciated, thank you in advance. Ally

Marcelino Lopez Welcome to BP! I'm a new real estate bee too but I got my RE license last week and also started working with a broker down in Williamsburg. If you are looking to get your license I'll recommend you using NYREI (Check them on Groupon) and take the exam state exam. I learnt a lot on the RE course and I recommend it if you want to learn some stuff. I don't know much about investing because I'm starting the journey myself but a lot of members on BP recommend to read the beginner guide on the website. In terms of books, read Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. Other than that, listen to BP podcast and learn the stuff from the post. Good luck and let me know if you should need any help!

@Brian Hosier Thank you very much for the advice and I'll definitely involve myself into learning the longer term investments.

@John Hickey Thank you for your advice. At this moment I'm not really sure where to focus between residential or commercial but I think residential stuck more in my mind than commercial.  Currently, i'm focusing on saving up money as much as I can and by end of the year, I should be able to pull the trigger. Thank you once again

Wow! Thank you for your post. I copied this and share with my friends, and I'll also print it and stick it to the wall as a reminder to myself. I'm a new member on BP and I don't have any experience in investing. This will definitely help me navigate my goals. Thank you once again!
