Regarding your locations, some parts of Jamaica are very tough neighborhoods . East NY has a lot of investment going on there and has many good deals available. Just keep in mind there are also some tough neighborhoods there as well. Focus on areas closer to the borders of Ridgewood, Cypress Hill and Glendale. Realistically, I don't know about the living for free by way of renting the other unuts. I guess that would depend upon what location and your price range.
