Hey BP! I'm 26, non grad degree in business law. I'm currently working on my RE license in Texas, I'm listening to podcasts, reading REI forums and books. My current landlord is in REI herself and I'm scheduled next week to help her out with a rehab. I am in the processes of disputing some things and paying off others on my credit, I know I will NEED it when it comes to Investing. I'm looking for any advice on getting started, maybe there's more I can do to better prepare myself? I've seen many people on here advising young newbies like myself to first start off with house hacking, and I'm putting my focus in that one area. Although, my husband is in the RV sales/repair business and I would love to collaborate with him and do an RV resort to expand his business, I also figure with his client base and marketing it would be "easy" to fill the rental spaces? I would love to pick someone's brain, maybe tell me some of your experiences with house hacking (or anything else) so I can get a better feel of what I would be getting myself (and my husband) into. I am also VERY open in an internship? Maybe shadowing? I WILL WORK FOR FREE. I have a background in accounting, I am also a licensed tax preparer, I can help out a lot office-wise. I can renew my notary license. I know I will not become a "millionaire" over night, and I know that this will be very different than anything I'm used to but this has been a secret passion/interest of mine since young, I am ready to spend two years of my life, learning and selling real estate and fixing my credit and saving my OWN money before I can financially get involved. Thanks guys! Alex

Hello BP community!! I wanted to make an introduction and ask some of the real estate veterans here their advice on ANYTHING AT ALL. Any books or resources would be of great assistance to me!  So, I am 26yrs old. I am from NYC and moved to Houston about 4 years ago. I have my bachelors in business law (I wanted to go into the route of becoming an attorney) instead, I opened up my own tax preparation office and went to town, it was great but it wasn't something I had my whole heart in, even though I've been in accounting since I was 16! (Probably illegal but it was a family business lol) I got married last year and have been a "housewife" since. Needless to say, this little fire cracker from New York (or anyone used to a fast paced life) isn't doing so well with staying home and not working. I have been feeling very useless. So I'm doing something about it! I've always had a passion for re decorating, rehabbing, wood working, DIYs etc. I'm very handy for a yankee lol I'm interested in Single family homes, to start. Eventually I would love to have a few multi family properties. My credit is HORRIBLE, 488 or so (I know! I was SO STUPID when I was 18) I ruined it before I could even think. So I figured I'd have to start with that if I want to be able to get any sort of loan. I have started looking for credit repair companies but my husband (who is much older than I am) says it's a waste of money, so instead he has constructed dispute letters to send off to the creditors. I have also enrolled myself in real estate license courses with Allied. Personally I feel there are WAY TOO MANY agents in Houston and not enough properties IMO, I may be totally wrong. It isn't something I see myself doing long term, But I do think it is a way for me to REALLLLLYYY learn about real estate. Not to mention I could represent myself and can show myself a home rather than wait on an agent. I figure after working in the industry for a couple of years, studying the market and fixing my credit that I would have a good foundation for the start of my REI career. I just want to make the right decisions going into this, because it really is something that DRIVES me and I want to learn all I can do I can do this properly. I am also very open to internships! I would love to get my toes wet or just watching how things go down. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks! Alex
I've made my choice to go with allied but taking the exam prep course with champions. I'm on my first course but so far it seems fine. Good luck!

Hey guys! Champions offers a exam prep course, I'm doing my courses with allied (it was a lot cheaper) but I am taking the champions exam prep course instead of allied's. Out of the reviews I've seen it's one of the best here, I feel the material may be more spot on. Also, I've been cross referencing with other real estate books or any data online in 2017. You can order the 2017 Texas real estate exam prep book from amazon too. You're never going to learn exactly what will be on the exam but as long as you're soaking in the information, you'll do fine! Good luck!!
