We just cleaned our house to be rented and that bleach/water worked wonders. We did 1:3 ratio when sprayed in the gutter it brightened up so much. I wish I would have taken a picture and I would show you the difference. Because we were outside the smell wasn't bad just had to worry about the breeze blowing the water back on us.

I used smart move for our tenant screening and it was super easy for me as well.

On a podcast (I think) someone mentioned something about a site/company called Handyman Matters. They have services in different states. I have yet to use it but I did look over their website and I plan on trying them out.

Hello, Elisa!

We are new also and also live in the Fort Washington, MD area. My husband and I are about to rent out our home in Central Virginia and are looking to invest in other properties by next year. I agree with you Bigger Pockets has been a tremendous help thus far just with getting our lease agreement together. Maybe one day we will meet personally at one of the local REIA meetings.

Thank you all. I wasn't sure if you could paint them but I'm glad to know you can cause it would definitely be cheaper.

The doors in our rental look yellow now that we have repainted the house white. Can the doors be painted or should we just get new doors for the entire house? I've cleaned them and they still look dingy compared to the house now. Thanks

Thank you all! @Paul Timmins thank you for the tip on the books and the REIA meetings. I have found one that I'm looking forward to attending.

Hello all,

My husband and I are new landlords. We moved to MD from VA (right across from the NC border) and we are preparing our house now to be rented out. This is our 2nd home. We purchased one in college that we rented out for a year before we had to sell it. We started listening to the podcasts recently and loved them. I have experience in mortgage lending (used to work for a bank in the mortgage dept.) and I also use to work for a property management company while in college. I look forward to gaining knowledge so we can start to build our portfolio within the next year or 2.
