Hello and welcome! I live in Jacksonville myself focusing on buy and hold rentals.

We currently have a rental in St Johns County and house hacking own our current home. Looking to connect and do other deals!

@Richard Pierre Can you send me some properties you may have available so we can take a look?

Sarasota is very expensive in our humble opinion. We looked there too (not as a rental, but as a secondary home) as my in-laws live there. We think the market is overheated in Sarasota right now but we don't live there full time so we can't say.

Definitely a liability (gotta live somewhere) but if you do house hacking by renting out spare bedrooms, you can actually lower your bills every month - which is what we are currently doing.

Heya! Welcome! New to this website too, and also from Jacksonville, FL

My husband was looking at multi-family properties too but we have to wait until we save up a bit for a downpayment!

@Tony Figurelli Ah! I see the first two meetings are free - hopefully it covers the classes too. :) Thanks again!

@Mark Nolan Agreed - I listen to them at work - I'm now on episode 4, while downloading the more recent ones too! I always need to have a notebook nearby - you never know when something good pops up

@Tony Figurelli Thank you for the clarification. I'll have to check the REIA meetings too!

@Ben Perry Thank you thank you thank you! That article definitely helped a lot and I've included that in my REI notes (still a newbie but trying to learn as much as I can)

Our other house (the one we currently live in) sustained a bit of water damage during the storm (roof vent leaked) so was worried that may be the case with the other house we were going to close on soon. Paranoia but still worth checking if the walls/roof/doors/windows are okay after the storm.

Haven't been to the REIA meetings, it's the one in the brewery downtown right?

Ugh. Our house is leaking water from the roof. That's a horror story from the hurricane and home ownership! Time to dip in to our emergency fund (after talking to our HOA, that is)

Hello I'm Ruby - I live with my husband in Jacksonville, FL

We relocated here and loved the area so we bought a house and now we're looking at investing too.

Our focus will be single family (maybe multi family) buy and hold properties in A++ neighborhoods.

I'm still reading and learning more about investing - listening through BP podcasts, blog articles, the forums, and bought the book on managing rental properties. Also printed out some files that Brandon made available to users so very excited to devour those. Maybe I'll get the book on Rental Property Investing from my hubby for Xmas which I can't wait to read!

Looking forward to connecting with investors or people living in the area!

Thanks for reading! :D
