Hi everyone!
I am very excited to be a part of this community! I've taken some big leaps of faith because of Bigger Pockets (and Rich Dad Poor Dad) over the last few months and couldn't be happier. I listen to BP podcasts or suggested books while I'm in the car or cooking! Needless to say, I'm hooked.
My significant other and I will be closing on our first multi by year's end and we are very excited to start our journey. We could use a little advice from you fine folks though! It's a two family and one of the units is turn key while the unit we will be in is not. The work that needs to be done for our unit is a complete kitchen and full bath gut. Fortunately, there are some hardwood floors in the kitchen that can be saved and seems to be in good shape!
Contractors I know from being in real estate work outside of our neighborhood so they can't be hired. Other contractors I've spoken with are lined up 3 months out. I had one GC come scope out the work in the kitchen and bath and was told it'd probably be around $50-$55k for the work...this will be our first reno project but those numbers sounded out of the norm. Is that what a normal kitchen and bath costs in the Boston area? I know prices are higher in the city but geesh we were expecting $20-25k less. Perhaps we are too new at this.
Any advice or suggestions? Or if you know of any good GCs in the Boston area, we're all ears!
Thanks for reading and have a splendid day!
