Hi Amy - I purchased a single family house in College Station a little over a year ago and went through the property manager vetting process last summer.  I have been EXTREMELY happy with my property manager after a year of working together.  I am happy to send you contact information.  Message me if you are interested.  Best of luck!

Hey Max!

Thanks for the post.  I'm encouraged to read how ambitious you and your friends are.  I am also a student in Mays Business School, currently here in College Station.  I did my first real estate deal in April, and would love to meet up to brainstorm with you/learn more about your goals and endeavors.  Shoot me a message so we can exchange info and meet up.

Thanks,

Aaron

Thank you everyone so much for the input!  I just called TM5 and they said they only do leasing.  Any ideas if that really is the case?

Hi BP,

I recently purchased my first rental property in College Station.  I have done a fully remodel project, and have tenants that moved in last week.  I want to know if there is a property management company, or individual that someone in the area recommends.  I am a finance guy so I am keeping my own books.  However, I live in Austin and it would be helpful to have someone deal with the day to day tenant calls/do minor repairs.  Is there someone that might do this?

Thanks,

Aaron Hafer

Thank you for the response, Katie!

I am a grad student at A&M but I am currently in Houston working an internship.  I am able to go up on weekends, but oversight during the week will be tough.  I do have some very close friends that will be willing to check on the property from time to time while I am away, but for the most part I will not be able to personally oversee the entire project.  I will be back in school next fall and my plan is to live in one room and rent out the other two rooms.  When I graduate I will have this purely as a rental property and have no plans to sell any time soon.  This property is in the 77845 area code, so there is a mix of families and students- I am open to whoever wants to rent but I am targeting students.  Because this is a 1985 property it needs some work to be appealing and rent for a good price.

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Hello BP!

I am under contract for my first real estate deal ever. Assuming the deal goes through, I am looking to do some rehab- flooring, painting, etc.  Does anybody in the Bryan/College Station, TX area have anyone they would recommend working with?  I have heard that SM Construction might be a good group. Thanks!

Hello Bigger Pockets!  I am new to real estate investing and to the Bigger Pockets forum.  I became interested in real estate after reading Rich Dad Poor Dad (shocker).  I have since read a few other books that have taught me that real estate is a great investment for building wealth and generating passive income.  I graduated from undergrad in May 2014 and am currently working on my graduate program (I will graduate in December of 2015).  I have worked quite a few internships and have been able to save up enough money for a downpayment on a rental property.  My goal is to buy a property in the Bryan/College Station area, live in one room, and rent out the others.  When I move out I plan to have the unit as my first rental property.  I am fortunate enough to have a loan from a family member so I won't need to go through a bank for this one.  The only thing now is to find an affordable deal where the numbers make sense.  Excited to get connected to the members of BP!
