@Charles Seaman thank you for being very transparent on your story. It helps most of us trying to learn. If you don't mind me asking, what was your role on the general partnership when you did your first deal? As a person who just starting out on syndication, I want to know what role I can best play in the partnership.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

@Scott Raynor are your fears about the virus affecting the real estate market? or about your health?

For the first question, if you're not over-leveraged (sounds like you're putting a downpayment) then you would be able to weather a downturn on the market. As @Marlen Weber is saying, this is only temporary. China and Korea are already recovering.

For the second question, there are ways to go along with the purchase without much human contact. You can also do things to decrease the likelihood of you contracting the virus. Again, refer to the CDC site.

Bottom line is how badly do you want to achieve your goals?

Anyway, I hope this helps! I wish you the best in your investing journey! Stay safe out there!

@Will Graves well Will what do you hope to achieve in Real Estate? You don't really have to answer that question here. The answer is not for me but for you. Just by reading your post it seems like you're in the middle of the ocean and figuring out what direction to go. I'm a bigger picture kind of guy. It's a bit cliche but if you read any book about success, every one of them started out with a goal. Once, you figure out what you want then work backward from there.

I haven't done any real estate courses but I think there are more than enough brilliant minds in here that can get to where you want to go. AND it's free!!! You just have to figure out what you want so when you ask specific questions, the right people will also show up to guide you.

Anyway, I hope this helps! I wish you luck on your investing journey! Stay safe out there.

@Afsheen S. Hello and Welcome! I like your enthusiasm and that you did yourself a huge favor by studying on your own. I always say figure out what do you hope to achieve in Real Estate in the next 20 years and work backward from there. Once you have enough information to get started then get started. There's no point in studying up all the time. You'll learn more when you actually do it. Along the way, you can ask specific questions here and more capable people will guide you. Anyway, I hope this helps. I'm excited for you and I hope you get to where you aim to be.

I wish you the best in your investing journey! Stay safe out there!

@Nicole Heasley Beitenman well said! I'm trying to make it a habit as well. @Matthew Stark it's a pretty general statement but if you have a specific question or area you want to learn then the right mentor will appear. Try to get a feel for the various subjects in real estate and focus on the one that piques your interest.

I hope this helps! I wish you the best in your investing journey! Stay safe out there!

@Kenneth Giddings I would suggest having an end goal then work backward from there. If you know where you're going then at least you can narrow down your questions and information to study on.

I hope this helps. I wish you luck on your investing journey! Stay safe out there.

@Todd Strong I like your optimism Todd. I would suggest figuring out the area you feel comfortable investing in. Start talking with a lender and get yourself a pre-approval letter. This will tell you how much you can afford and how much is your monthly payments. With that 2 information, you can find an area where rents offset your monthly mortgage payments.

I hope this helps. I wish you the best in your investing journey! Stay safe out there.

@Michael Jetzer I like how you have a plan set up. Most of the time when I see people jumping in to ask questions, I first ask them what are their goals in the next 20 years. If you have that goal setup, it will answer most of your questions. Looks like you have things laid out at least. Don't hesitate to bring up specific questions that are preventing you to get started. I'm excited for you and your family. I hope when you start, you don't stop till you get to where you set out to be.

I wish you the best in your investing journey!

@Jelani Tate It's never too late. If you've set a good foundation because of all your studying then I think the next step is to go for a property. Hopefully you already know what you're going after. Best of luck and stay safe while investing!

I wish you the best in your investing journey!

@James York good point. I didn't even think about that. I think the roof is high enough that if the winds are strong, rain is definitely gonna spray on the door. I'll ask some general contractors too and see what they can do about it. I appreciate the idea James! Thank you!
