I haven't been successful in finding an agent that's inventor/ADU friendly, so I ended up focusing on educating myself. At the end of the day I feel that agents have a bad compensation incentive structure (they make the most money when you close at the highest price possible) so I wouldn't rely on an agent. In my opinion you would be better off looking for wholesalers to help you look for deals. If someone does know a good agent though, I would appreciate an introduction!

Good luck!

Best Coast!? Many of my friends would consider those fighting words! We'll see if the move works out in the long run. Big difference from NYC to LA.

For sure this is a limitation for most agents, but you would expect that there would be a market for investor friendly or agents who are also investors. I'll be looking through the networking tab to make some connections. Has working with wholesalers been a better strategy for you?

Hi there!

Beginner Real Estate Investor. Looking forward to traveling on this long journey with you all!

From NJ and recently moved to the West Coast (Yay! Los Angeles! Can I call myself an Angelino? Probably not...) I have a full-time position in sales and thankfully I am part of a great company that has continued doing well during the current crisis.

I found BP a few years ago and have been slowly working my way to towards real estate investing, by getting my financial house in order. Interested in various real estate methods and markets, but currently focused on house-hacking in the greater LA area.

Looking forward to making connections here and meeting investors (and soon-to-be-investors) face to face once this global pandemic is over.

Currently looking for any suggestions on Los Angeles based realtors, and mortgage brokers who have a great investor, ADU, and multi-family unit knowledge.

Kind regards,
Adam

Welcome Adam!

I'm from back east, too -- raised in DC, college in Manhattan, post-college in Brooklyn (of course).

I house-hacked a duplex (with my wife and toddler daughter) last year, and I love it. It's a great strategy for building a really robust foundation. Now I'm looking for my next LA acquisition and in the process of becoming an agent to help others househack and invest in LA.

Best,

Jon

Thanks Jon! Will definitely send you a message to get your feedback on your experience. Looking forward to reading more about your next find!

I saw this tab, think it might be new since I really dived into the forums! Will be doing some exploring there. Thanks for the suggestion!
