I actually received an email from Suha Arafat, she said she wants to split her fortune with me, all I have to do is give her my bank account numbers!
Do you guys think this is a scam?

Now that's one that sounds like it's worth it!!!
Are there really people out there that actually fall for all of these email scams?? I get loads of emails every day from "attorneys" or "bankers" of very wealthy people from the Middle East who just died and now are looking to give away their $60 million fortune to me!! It's really starting to get annoying.
I can't think that there really are people who continue to get sucked in by these ridiculous scams!!
Rant over!

Even though it does sound interesting, you're right, that is something for the "truly paranoid"!!!

I would be pretty skeptical about it...but I'm usually skeptical by nature about 'Make money quick on the Internet" things - especially when asking for a credit card and 3 digit verification # over their "totally secure" entry form. I always ask myself this question...if it's really that easy to make that much money (by doing relatively nothing), then why would they share the secret and not just spend hours every day at home doing it and making even more money for themselves??

Ryan, welcome to the forum! You'll find this a great place to be - especially if you're willing and ready (and it sound like you are) to absorb as much knowledge and information as you can about real estate. You can really learn a lot here, I know I have. Just remember, don't be afraid to ask questions - everybody here loves to help! Good luck with school and the future investing!!!

I don't think we really need to resort to name-calling...we should be a little above that...and yeah, President Bush has made mistakes, just like every other President has...but as to why people would vote him in, look at his competition the last two elections. Al Gore and John Kerry from the Democrats, and John McCain probably was the biggest threat from the Republican side...With that competition, it's no wonder why President Bush got elected...and then re-elected. If the majority of the country really didn't want Bush, then they should have found some better competition for him.
I voted for Bush, but that doesn't put the Conservative label on me....I really hope Sen. Barack Obama puts his name on the Presidential ballot for the next election...I think he could do this great country a lot of good being in the White House.
All cash, I respect your opinions and always enjoy reading your posts, as they are always informative...but I can't help but feel that for some reason President Bush can only do wrong in your eyes...that with you being from Texas, you have some long-standing issues against him. As a curiosity question, with you being a resident of Texas, how was his leadership of Texas while he was Governor?

In Provo UT (50 miles south of Salt Lake City), this home is listed at $249,900. Sorry there is no picture, but I put the link if you would like to see pictures of it.

Post: Gas Prices!

Yes, gas prices are getting higher, but it's also a matter of us as consumers needing to adjust to the rising prices. Look at Europe, especially Amsterdam, where prices are some of the highest in the world. Last year, when our national average was around $2.60, the average in Amsterdam was about $7.10!! About 6 years ago, we had a foreign exchange student from the Netherlands stay with our family for the school year. He told us a little about the economy and way of life there, like the fact that almost no teenagers drive, let alone have their own personal car. If you want to go somewhere or "hang out" with friends, you had three choices...public transportation, walk, or (by far the most popular) ride a bike.
Some places in South America also have extremely high gas prices. About 4 years ago when I was living in Uruguay, we had a Mitsubishi Galant. To fill the tank (about 15 gallons), it cost around $80. As a result, people down there just don't drive as much.
I know the main complaint around here is that the public transporatation isnt' very good. Maybe that's true, but the state won't spend to money to upgrade unless a lot of people are using it, unlike now. So when people constantly complain about having to spend so much money on gas, I really don't feel too bad for them. If you don't like it, then don't drive and much as you do...or learn to drive a little more conservatively.
Life is about adaptation...as generally speaking, we nowadays don't like adapting to the changing world...but it's necessary.

I've never thought of that, but you make a very valid point. Even though I disagree with the protests, it is great to have this type of political freedom and not have to worry about going to jail for protesting our leaders decisions.

Richplan,

That's true that a lof of money can be made in real estate...but it's not as easy as it sounds. Really take your time to browse around the forum and learn as much as you can (especially by asking questions!!) and then you'll be able to go out and make your money. It just takes time, effort, and enthusiasm...and you sure seem to have the enthusiam down!!

I currently live in Provo, UT, but have spent the majority of my life in Brigham City, UT, which is about 50 miles north of Salt Lake City.

Over the past 5 years or so, Brigham City and the surrounding towns (mainly Perry and Willard) have seen a huge increase in the number of homes. On Homepages.com, it lists Brigham City as having a 21% Year Over Year Population Growth. I know in Perry, where I actually grew up, housing developments and projects are becoming part of the norm now. Where the city used to be a few houses with many fruit orchards...it's now the opposite. Just in my neighborhood - we built our house 15 years ago and we were the fourth house to be built in the neighborhood - now there are 50+ houses plus condos at the bottom of the street. And that's just one neighborhood - and every part of the city is experiencing the same. It's really quite amazing the rapid growth - and because most lots are now either 1/4 or 1/3 acre lots, and ours, as with most of the "older" homes are built on 1 acre lots, our homes value has nearly tripled.
I wish, as do my parents, that we would have invested in real estate when we first moved in....we would be sitting pretty if we would have.
