Post: Looking to house hack LLC Property

I'm looking to house hack with a multi unit property, but want to have it protected by an LLC. Is there any way to do this without it negating the LLC protection? I know there are issues with living in your rental properties. I'm sure there has to be a workaround as people do this. I'm in Oregon if that matters. It is also a multi member LLC with 4 investors (Family).

I’m mostly finding larger 2 unit and some 3 unit under this price. It’s definitely more square footage for your buck than Portland. Not much cash flow though based on rents of $1.05 to $1.14 per square foot.

Hello,

I've just started to look at the Eugene area for multi-family homes and am interested in 2-4 unit properties. My criteria is under $500k, 2-3 bedroom units and not near campus. Ideally, small families will rent each unit.  I'd like to network with people in the area as I live in Portland and am looking to move to Eugene soon.

Welcome Juan!  I attend a monthly real estate investment group called RareBird.  There are many experienced investors as well as newbies who are just getting started.  It is a great place to network, learn from others and gain an understanding of the local market.

Welcome Brittany.  I am also in the Portland area and am working on learning how to be successful in this tough market with a buy / hold strategy.  It sounds like you have some great experience here and elsewhere.  I believe you will find plenty of great resources on this site and will also be a great resource for newbies like me.

Aaron

Hello everyone!

My name is Aaron.  I am a native Porltander and know the area very well.  I enjoy the outdoors, geology, geography, beaches, whales, kayaking and the list keeps going.  I am very excited about life and am ready to start a new chapter in real estate.

I've been in the corporate finance world for 15+ years and hold an MBA from the University of Colorado.  I know that this job will not help me achieve my goals in life.

My goal is not to get rick quick, or follow gurus to the pot of gold.  It is instead a path to retiring comfortably and early, so that I can spend more time with family and travel.  To start, I want to find a reasonably priced duplex or triplex that I can live in and reduce my rent.  Then I want to save like crazy so I can fund the next opportunity.  I know I am in an expensive area which poses a lot of challenges to overcome.  I appreciate any advice in getting started in this market or nearby.

I have listened to nearly 70 of the bigger pockets podcasts in the past month and am ready to start meeting people here in the forums.  Education comes first, then mentor, then action.

Cheers,

Aaron
