One year into Land Investing: An Update

Hey, it's been quite some time since I wrote a blog post and thought it would be good to drop in, even if nobody ever reads these.  I'll just knock this out as a stream of consciousness post. It's been interesting to look back over my previous blog posts and forum comments and "the like" because while I am still interested in those topics I have blazed a different path than I would have predicted.  About a year ago I was turned on to Seth Williams via episode 39 of the bigger pockets blog.  Living in the Bay Area makes investing difficult to get into.  I did a bunch of research and decided to take action.  I purchased his course and learned a great deal.  I also decided to purchase the Land Academy course.  In the year that has followed I have purchased about 15 properties using a combination of Seth's teaching and the Land Academy team's blind offer techniques.  The past year has been extremely busy as I have balanced growing the business along side my 9-5.  Not to mention an extremely supportive girlfriend who helps make time for me to basically work two jobs!  I have been able to hire a virtual assistant who kicks butt and helps on the acquisitions side.  I have also built out systems around the business, I built my own CRM, then once it was just about running on all cylinders, I decided to ditch that system and purchase a podio based land-investing software package called LandSpeed.  It was sad to see the countless hours of coding that went into the CRM get scrapped.  And although LandSpeed was pretty great out of the box, I have basically rebuilt the additional functionality of my old CRM on a personal Podio account that integrates with LandSpeed.  This enables me to have much more control of the automations as well as build out virtual assistant specific Podio workspaces.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the next year has to come.  I have some audacious goals and can't wait to see how the year pans out.

Best,

Matt
