Gun Runner Wins 2018 Pegasus World Cup!

Gun Runner Wins 2018 Pegasus World Cup!

Saturday was the day. The running of the richest race in the world. That being the Pegasus World Cup. And this has been quite the year for the winning horse. Horse trainers across the planet will be looking to train harder to be in better position to win next year.

First of all, Gun Runner drew position number 10 in the starting gate at Gulfstream Park. Trained by Hall of Famer Steve Asmussen and ridden by jockey Florent Geroux, Gun Runner’s morning line odds were ⅘. He left the starting gate with odds of 1/1. The favorite took the victory with a 2 ½ length win at the Hallandale Beach, FL race track.

Training at the Williston Mile may create champions like Gun Runner

As a matter of fact, this year has been a successful one for Gun Runner. The Breeder’s Cup Classic Champion was recently named Horse of the Year. Before retiring to stud upon the completion of today’s race, Gun Runner adds winner to his accomplishments. Last year was impressive for him as well winning five out six races he ran. Arrogate beat him in the Dubai World Cup. Yet, Gun Runner countered by beating Arrogate in the Breeder’s Cup Classic. He finishes his career with today's victory winning $7 million and paying out Win=$4.20, Place=$3.00, Show=$2.80*.

Moreover, following Gun Runner across the finish line were:

•2nd-West Coast winning $1.6 million and paying out Place=$4.00, Show=$3.20*.

•3rd-Gunnevera winning $1.3 million and paying out Show=$4.80*.

•4th-Fear the Cowboy winning $1 million*.

•5th-Seeking the Soul winning $850,000*. With the remaining horses each winning $650,000*.

Furthermore, for those holding winning tickets: $2 Exacta=$17.20; $1 Trifecta=$55.50; $1 Superfecta=$1,142.70.

In fact, Gun Runner is owned by Winchell Thoroughbreds, LLC and Three Chimneys Farm. Gun Runner completes his racing career with $15,988,500 and twelve wins. Congratulations to Gun Runner and his entire team of experts! *=NBC Sports
