The Power Team Explained

In real estate investing many gurus teach about getting a 'power team' in place before starting. The power team is the group of professionals you have as experts in each part of your real estate investing business. What I have learned over the years is that a power team is built out of experience and time rather than picking names out of the phone book. Being able to call upon a really good contractor did not come out of luck. I had to deal with a lot of really bad ones before I found the good one. Being able to call the best real estate eviction attorney in the city to years to develop the relationship I have with him today. People can certainly end up stumbling upon high quality power team members, but it is unlikely that the majority of your power team will be made of the people you really want. A good way to try and shortcut spending years to find the right people is to get a personal referral from a successful investor. They are usually more than happy to give you a reference to certain people on their power team. Most of the time it is good business for them as well.
