Week 2

It's been an AMAZING week!  I've done all kinds of...ok, not much.  It's been a week, give me a break.  This is my 2nd blog and I'm already a day late!  But in my defense, it's been a busy week/weekend.  Friday, I quit my job.  I'm going full time real estate investing!  Full time...until my new job starts up on Wednesday.  New job, engineering roll, back to airplane related which I like, and a raise!  Other than that, what I've been up to...

Pushed through a few more podcasts here at BP.  If you haven't checked out the podcast, do yourself a favor.  They're fun, entertaining and extremely informative.

Friday, while waiting to final-out old work, I took a lunch break to look at a 4-plex listed FSBO on Zillow.  1960, all brick, symmetrical, brand new roof and windows, gutted to the studs.  I was hesitant, but thought "man this could be it!"  Prior to going down, I ran numbers through the BP Buy and Hold Calculator. From what I knew, it seemed like a good deal.  Unfortunately, for me, it was pending sale.  Turn a negative to a positive, I had a great conversation with the lender that had a "will finance" sign in the window.  We exchanged info, and hopefully we'll be doing business of some sort soon.

I'm still reading Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity by David Allen.  I usually try and listen to things on audio book.  I'm finding this one to be difficult since it has things that I need to stop and physically do.  So far, so good, and I'm excited to get some of the suggestions/systems put into play.

I had lunch today with the seller of my current home.  What was going to be coffee and a sandwich, turned into a preferred beer and appetizers.  We had trouble locking down time to meet, so it was nice to finally catch up.  Great guy, lead on a hard money lender, and some more insight on my house/the project that was.  I think it speaks volumes when the seller can sit down with the buyer, after the fact, and both sides are happy.  He and his fiancé are flipping houses and doing it right.  Definitely somebody I'd like to model my work ethic after.

Hopefully I can get spun up in this new job relatively quickly.  Once things are going well there and my schedule (it's not changing much) works itself out day-to-day, and I can get back to learning and start searching for that first property.  The new job won't have much, if any, travel associated with it.  Man do I love to travel, but right now, I really want to focus on real estate.
