The Truth About Growth, Success, And Pushing Higher
Running any business (whether it’s a real estate investing business or any other kind of business) will usually happen in stages.
In my experience, most growth works like this:
First, you’ll push yourself to a point that may seem challenging (maybe it’s starting your business or maybe it’s getting your first customer, or maybe it’s putting that first deal under contract).
Then, you’ll breakthrough that barrier and reach a new level.
… And you’ll stay at that level for a little while.
Now, this is where two things could happen:
- Some investors will stay at that level for a long time (sometimes for their entire lives)
- Some investors will stay at that level for just a little while and then they’ll repeat the process by pushing themselves again.
Which investor are you?
Many people will SAY they’re the second investor, the one who is always pushing, but I observe that this is not always the case.
The most successful investors who really reach a higher plane are the ones who are relentlessly pushing like crazy and seem never to stop. Others around them ask, “Aren’t you doing too much?” or “Why don’t you slow down?”
But investors who are on the express lane to success know that there’s no stopping.
If you want to be one of the people who wants to grow and push yourself harder to reach those new heights, here’s what you need to do:
- Make a list of all the ways you can grow your business (i.e. scaling your marketing, meeting more sellers, etc.). You should end up with a big list.
- Start doing those things until they become too difficult (either because you’re doing them so much or because you have so much to do).
- Keep pushing through the exhaustion and the question marks.
- No, don’t quit. Keep pushing. When you run into difficulty, seek out the help of others – like your mentor. (Don’t have a mentor? Get one!!!)
- You’ll eventually breakthrough and reach a new plateau and it will be amazing.
Yes, this list sounds almost too simple but trust me, when you’re in steps 2-4, you’ll want to quit and many people do.
Want to know where to start first when making your list of ways to grow? Here’s what I recommend.
- Get a mentor. I mentioned this already but if you don’t have one, make it a priority. I can trace my success back to my mentor. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be where I am today; and I’m proud that many of the people I mentor can say the same thing about me.
- Get educated. Read books. Watch videos (subscribe to my Periscope channel at @jevangelisti). Invest in online education like what I offer athttp://leveluprealestatetraining.com.
- Hire a team. Start with a virtual assistant (VA) and start building your team up so you have a growing group of people dealing with sellers, buyers, etc.
- Invest in technology and systems, such as a CRM and accounting software. In the early days you might not think you need this but if you push as hard as I hope you will then you’ll need this sooner than you think.
I’ve given you the path to growth, and I’ve given you 4 VERY powerful and effective places to start growing. Start doing these and you’ll elevate higher than you realized was possible.
