Why It's Important To Stay OUTSIDE Of Your Comfort Zone

You are so much stronger than you think you are! You're smarter than you allow yourself to believe, more capable than you realize and deserve a lot more credit than you give yourself. Stop doubting yourself, making excuses and sitting around. Get up, get out and get UNCONFORTABLE. That's when you will see things start to happen.

- Yasmine Bisumber

You have little to no money saved up and your credit is either bad or non existent but you decide that you want to pursue Real Estate investing! If this is you, it is super important that you understand 100% that in order to get anything accomplished is if you step outside of your comfort zone and STAY out. Here are two things I know for sure will get the show on the road and should pretty much work for anyone who is starting out, or even someone who owns one or two properties but really wants to grow. I know two things is not much but keep in mind I am less than a year into my career. I want to help empower others who just can't seem to make things happen.

1. Talk To Much

Yes, I said Talk to much! Tell everyone what you do and be excited about it, it doesn't matter if it is your mother, your neighbor, your professor or a random person at the grocery store. It is critical that you get the word out. I am not saying to sell yourself or pressure anyone just yet; I am saying you should get in the habit of saying that you are a real estate investor, the very worst that can happen is you gain confidence and feel more comfortable. I know it sounds a little odd especially for someone who doesn't even say hello to people they see everyday, but trust me it gets better with time.

Perfect example, I overheard a man say the words "well you have to do your due diligence and then make an offer". I swear I turned around so fast I almost fell down! I quickly realized that I probably looked like a crazy lady and got myself together, I then approached him after his phone call and explained that I couldn't help but overhear him speaking and asked if he does business in Real Estate. He turned out to be a Real Estate Attorney who represents huge clients and was more than willing to help me the best he could. Keep in mind I was totally embarrassed for the duration of this encounter but he had no idea.

Another example that happened just today. A older gentleman happened to see my notebook and was admiring my handwriting. I found a way to mention the fact that I invest in real estate part time, to my surprise he has been investing in South Florida for the last 40 years and had great advice and made sure we exchanged business cards.

2. Approach Others and Ask Questions

I cannot stress enough how important it is to ask questions, even if you have to say "forgive me but..." just ask! I have found that successful real estate investors as well as other professionals in this business love to share information with those of us who are genuinely eager to absorb it all. Remember, they love real estate and sometimes they are dying to speak with someone with the same passion. I know it can be challenging to reach out to or approach others, especially if you feel like a peasant in their presence. I am here to tell you that you will probably have more pleasant experiences than negative ones if you just open your mouth.

I know we have all heard the saying, "Great things happen outside of your comfort zone". And it is true, I have been embarrassed and scared more in the past 6 months than I have in my entire life but if I don't go for my dreams, somebody else will! Same goes for you. So much has happened in the past few months in my real estate career.  I've made some money, built relationships, secured funds (that's a huge one for me), started my company, established a great partnership and most of all learned a great deal.

Another great quote is one I read from Grant Cardone, it says something like this "If you are not scare, what you're doing is not big enough".

I would like to leave you with this final thought, these are my own words:

- Get up, get out and get with it. Stop expecting extraordinary rewards for your mediocre efforts! -Yasmine Bisumber
