Are you a noob/noobie/greenie... new real estate agent looking to...

It's one of those little dark secrets that agents don't like to talk about and sometimes even frown upon... the dreaded discount broker! Every new real estate agent has tried it with little to no effect but why? I know exactly why, they did not put this marketing strategy in their overall business plan. They figured, lets just discount to get some leads and then try to convert them to full price listings down the line. It doesn't work folks! Once you go down the discount route with a client then they, and all of their referrals, are going to want the same discount, it's the part of the business that a lot of new agents don't get very good coaching/guidance on.

I never understood why veteran agents have such a big problem with a new real estate agent who was willing to cut their commission and provide exceptional service just as they would with a full price 2.5-3% comission? It's hard in this line of work especially when starting out and trying to break into the business.

I will agree that there some A-holes out there that only discount to get new business because they think it's a short cut and in return provide their clients plain o'le sh*tty service with only their commission on their mind. These are the bad apples that give the industry a bad name but there are many out there who provide excelent service to their clients and are willing to take the discount to gain customer loyalty.

Yes, this does backfire from time to time with clients who just want a cheap alternative to paying high broker fees and could care less about you and doing further business with you but that's the game at hand.

We recently ran across a great team of discount brokers in Ventura County California; Discount Real Estate Services (part of valley to the shores, parent company owned by VENC
