Charlotte Trending As Suburban Hotspot for Homebuyers

In Realtor.com’s recent list of suburban hotspots in the U.S., Charlotte NC homes for sale in its suburbs are on the rise – particularly in the vicinity of Uptown, which is Charlotte’s business district. This district is a major source of the Queen City’s thriving economy, making the area that much more attractive to homebuyers seeking homes close to where they work. And although the neighborhood is not one of the top 10 suburban hotspots as yet (currently ranked 12th), homes for sale in Uptown are some of the fastest selling properties right now.

Uptown is a distinct part of Charlotte because it isn’t just one area of the city, but is divided into four quarters:

  • First Ward – mostly residential with lots of homes for sale
  • Second Ward – predominantly contains businesses, but also a mix of residential properties for sale or rent
  • Third Ward – banking capitol, location for museums, the NFL Panther’s stadium, and renovated homes
  • Fourth Ward – historic section of town that is also mainly residential

Why Suburbs are Trending for Charlotte Homebuyers

Just like all the cities listed in the top 10, the push for suburban living in Charlotte is greatly affected by its population, supply of houses, and affordability both in the cost of living and prices for homes.Since Charlotte’s growth is predicted to keep growing as commerce continues to expand, it makes sense that the city is ranked 10 on list of top cities for one-way moving trucks, and will also likely improve its rankings as a suburban hotspot in coming years. In the meantime, Uptown, and the rest of Charlotte’s neighborhoods have a lot to offer residents.

Here are 4 reasons why:

1. Homes are affordable. The average listing price for a 1,406 square feet single-family home is at $180,000.Each neighborhood also has its own unique characteristics to suit your interests.

2. Friendly people.Southern hospitality makes socializing with your neighbors a pleasant experience, no matter where you live around Charlotte. And with a population of 17,000, it makes it easier to get to know your neighbors.

3. Attractions and activities. You never have to go far to have fun – and that goes for kids as well as adults. From NASCAR to museums, cultural events, volunteering opportunities, shopping, dining, parks, and so much more, you can always find something to do.After all, Charlotte is ranked among the top 100 cities for recreation.

4. High-performing schools. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System, as the 2nd largest in North Carolina, is known for its quality schools, including some of the best-ranked high schools in the U.S.
