True Rent Story...

Not a great month for collecting the rents but I at least have a vague sense of what's going on with 7 of the 8 tenants. 5 are paid as of the 8th (not exactly over-achievers, are they?), one is on a twice-a-month plan and not quite due yet, one has made assurances of when rent will be sent, with late fees and then there's number 8.

Mr. 8 as he shall henceforth be known is a youngish kid who appears more scatter-brained than evil and I know he travels a lot for work. I've been a little patient with him because he seems to be trying. He still gets posted but we haven't made it to court yet and both rents and late payments have been made up til now.

November 6, no rent. Text Mr. 8. No answer. November 8, post pay-or-quit (it's a couple of days late, my bad) No answer. November 11, drive by, notice still on door, flapping in the breeze. I know I haven't seen his car around. Hmmm. Are we abandoned? Text Mr. 8 "did you move?" No sarcasm intended. Mr. 8 texts back... 'no, I'm out of town and I sent my rent, I wondered when you texted LAST WEEK (emphasis mine) if you had received the rent.' Hmmm. Wouldn't it have made sense to any rational human being to reply to the original text???

There are days when I honestly don't know what planet some of these tenants are occupying. Sigh.

  1. You're so welcome! Now, if it only were another month before I had a rent saga...

  2. Wow! You just can't make this stuff up sometimes! Thanks for not making us wait a whole month for the latest rent saga. :)
