Simple formula of success in life & investing

Success for me means spending 10,000 hours in honing a skill and becoming best at it.

As I started my career, I picked one specific focus area of technology consulting and become best at it. It was grueling Monday to Thursday for 15 years. In this time frame I transformed business operations of many multinational companies around the globe dealing with 100's of billions of revenue and business and technology transformations in these companies. Once this 1st skill was acquired, it helped me to transition to my next skill i.e. real estate investing and personal finance.

From 2007 I’ve become a student for real estate investing and personal finance. I’ve acquired skills by reading, listening, modeling and executing. I am using this skill now to effectively to build my rental real estate portfolio and net worth. My bigger goal is to provide great customer service & great place to live for young people. In this journey I haven't abandoned my 1st skill & still focus on change in large organizations. It is much easy now for me to bring this change.

In acquiring both these skills I’ve always put myself out of comfort zone. In other words, took risks and worked under high level of stress. With time, I developed an ability to manage stress. These are the key ingredients for success; manage multiple skills at the same time to grow knowledge and increase personal net worth.

In summary, success is a simple formula of focus on acquiring 1 or 2 skills + taking risks + managing stress.
