Where Should I Market My House For Rent?

I've actually seen this question quite frequently in the BP forums . . . Where do I market my home for rent?

  • Zillow – connected to Hotpads and Trulia

This is by far the most popular site to market homes and if you were to only choose one, I'd choose Zillow.

Zillow is a powerhouse in the rental space.  One of the 3 always pops up as the number one or two on a Google search.

If you aren't on Zillow, you're wasting your time.

  • Facebook

While FB has taken a hit on the data tracking it gets from its users, they still know a ton about people and you can market your home to people who are in your geography.

With FB, you also get people tagging and telling others about your home; which is really nice.

  • Craigslist

Love it or hate it, Craigslist in some communities still rents homes.  Each market is very different.  In some markets, this just drives your waste of time, the bottom of the barrel leads.  However, in other markets, it is the "go to" to rent homes.

  • Neighborhood app

If you still live in the neighborhood with the house you're renting, this is an awesome way to tell your neighbors that it is available.

This app is very personal and will definitely rent your home if you can use it.

  • Yard sign and directionals

While very old fashioned, people still choose to live in a neighborhood before they lease a house.  When they (or their friends) drive by, they need to know THAT house is available for rent.

Directional signs in some communities are frowned upon.  But, if you are responsible and remove it after the home rents, I say put them up on major thoroughfares and let the world know.

These are some awesome ways to market your home.  However, I'm curious if any of you have found other ways that I'm not thinking of . . . we can certainly use new ways to rent more homes faster!

Cheers!
