How to Keep Your Property Prim and Proper

Multifamily investors have a lot of work cut out for them. However, it’s always important to remember that you want to keep your multifamily property as clean as possible.

A clean building makes for clean profits. And while you certainly have to do your part in keeping your multifamily property clean, you have to ensure that your tenants are doing their part as well.

Here are some tips for home cleaning for tenants in your multifamily asset:

Inspect rooms regularly

Regular inspections of each tenant’s living quarters will show if they’ve been doing their own cleaning or none at all.

Now, there’s absolutely no reason to check on each individual tenant 24/7. However, don’t put it off for too long either. Nothing’s worse than an inspection revealing something that could have been handled weeks ago.

But then again, sometimes that can’t be helped if the tenant hasn’t been exactly cleaning even with notices and warnings given. In which case, appropriate measures will need to be taken.

Involve your tenants

Handling a tenant who hasn’t exactly cleaned up their mess in a while can be tough. But playing the supportive landlord card can also have your tenant turning the tables and actually cleaning for your multifamily property’s benefit and yours as well.

Be upfront with the way you manage rules regarding cleanliness. But the best way you can overcome this challenge is to screen your tenants from the get-go.

Do necessary repairs and cleaning

There are messes that can be out of your tenant’s reach. In which case, it’s always the right thing to do to extend a helping hand even as an investor and owner of your multifamily property.

Rusty pipes, broken flooring, and cracked walls can all accumulate over time. Which is why an inspection is first and foremost in finding and handling these messes.

And with messes like these, it will be most appropriate to call in some help...

If a mess is too much, hire professional help

If a mess is beyond even your capability to handle, it will be time to call in outside professional assistance if you want to keep your multifamily property from falling apart.

Call in professionals for those rusty pipes that need careful handling and those walls that are falling apart in order to not mess up any more than you or your tenant has already. Yes, it’s important you lend a hand but if you’re not sure yourself of how to get this clean then having a professional who definitely knows what they’re doing will put your mind at ease.

If you want your multifamily property to be profitable, then you have to keep it the cleanest that it can be in order to rake in the big bucks.

Work together with your tenants to make your property to be the shining diamond in the rough!
