Shady Drive Wallingford CT Rehab Update

Another day, another update! As you have seen from our previous video post, we are making some decent progress on our recently purchased foreclosure property in Wallingford, CT. Now that the yard and demo work are further along and the underground oil tank removed, things are really starting to come together!

This week, our focus has been on closing off the old screen porch area and converting it into extra living space. When you have a a little over 1,000 square ft, any added space you can create is a bonus! We've also opened up the living space by removing the old mechanical room (most properties in a slab have this to keep all of the equipment (furnace, water meter, etc.) in one place, away from view and properly vented to meet town and state codes). There was baseboard heat originally, fueled by oil (there was a newer tank above ground in the house). We found that EverSource gas is on the street, and they will pay to have it brought into the property! We just have to pay for the hookup to the furnace inside the property.

Below are some images of our progress. Take a look and be sure to leave a comment with any questions or comments you have!

Demo is moving along! This is the living room area.

Bedroom is all demoed and opened up. Flooring was removed as well.

Other bedroom was also demoed and opened up

Framing was completed for closing up the previously screened in porch

Closed in the old porch area. The area where the underground tank was removed has been filled in and smoothed over as well.

Inside the area that was previously a screened in porch. You can see it's beginning to come together.
