BiggerPockets Updates: Mailing List, Opportunity List, File Vault, Tools

We've been busy making things happen here at BiggerPockets and I wanted to share some of the latest with all of you.

- Newsletter Upgrade: As many of you know, we send out a weekly newsletter to our members to help keep you all informed of the latest real estate news, BiggerPockets news, hot discussions, articles and more.  In an effort to improve deliverability, we're excited to switch to MailChimp as a tool to manage our master list, and look forward to working with their platform to deliver our emails to you.If you're not currently getting the BiggerPockets Newsletter and want to be sure you do, make sure you Subscribe to the List Now!

- Opportunities: The move of our master email list allows us to create secondary lists which we can use to bring you great information targeted to your wants and needs.  With that in mind, we've established what we're calling our Opportunities List, where members must opt-in.  Subscribers to the Opportunities List will be kept up to speed with great offers, will be provided with news of great BiggerPockets products, events and opportunities, and will also be informed of outside opportunities that BiggerPockets believes in. If you're interested in hearing about things like webinars, ebooks, and other offers, we recommend you jump in and .

- File Vault: We just started Beta Testing our latest product, the BiggerPockets File Vault.  While only a selected few members can now upload files to the vault, anyone can download.  The vault allows members to upload their contracts, spreadsheets, images, audio files, and any other real estate related documents.  Of course, there is an option to keep these files private, to share only with your colleagues, or to make them public for all to see.  Members will be able to attach their files to forum posts and propertly listings as you can see from the image below (note the attached files at the bottom of the post).  We'll be talking more about the vault as it is opened up for all to use, but in the meantime, we wanted to let you know that this project (many months coming) is on the cusp of being delivered to everyone on BiggerPockets.

- Tools:  You'll notice a new link at the top of BiggerPockets labeled Tools.  If you put your mouse over the tools link, you'll notice a dropdown with links in it.  Here you'll find links to tools on BiggerPockets and those developed in coordination with our outside partners.  Currently, you'll find links to our Tenant Screening Tool (TransUnion), BiggerPockets Task Manager, and Foreclosure Listings (Foreclosure.com);  we'll be adding more shortly, so check back regularly.

  1. Is the file vault something users can use to share articles they have written that don't format easily to the articles section? Do they have to be free of logos and such?

  2. The users uploading the file can enter a description, Todd. As for the "usefulness" of the file, we're planning a system where users can rate the file. Currently, any user can comment on the file, which we think will serve the purpose that you're looking at. If you've got additional suggestions, please do share them.

  3. The file vault looks like a very good resource. Will there also be articles listed for each file describing the usefulness of the file and a description of how to use?
