How to go about choosing the right handyman/maintenance/management

Hello all!
I am new to Bigger Pockets.
I would like to enter the landscape of real estate investing, but the area I live in has a barrier to entry with regards to cost. So I would like to look into out-of-state investing. However, I am unsure on how to go about finding the proper handyman/maintenance guy/management team to help run any out-of-state investments I make. I'd like to find honest people who are not going to rip me off. Does anyone have any tips on how to find the right guys or methods that you use to vet people?
thank you!
