Property Insurance for 98 y/o rental

Anthony Conrad
Posted

I’m buying a 98 year old, 4 bedroom house to use as my first rental property. The insurance company wants records of updated electric, plumbing, roof, and HVAC, all having been done in the last 15 years. Everything is updated to modern standards but most of it was done in the 90s so I can’t get insurance that will appease the mortgage company.

I plan to do some renovations after we buy it to get it ready to rent but I might lose my financing if we can’t get it insured quickly. Any suggestions on insurance companies that would be more lenient on rental property?
