Wildfire wiped out 9 rentals. Now what?

I filed claims this morning.  (Chubb and Nationwide) Curious to hear from others who have been through something similar. Did you hire someone to represent you to insurance company? If so, at what point and was it helpful?

Roanna, Sorry, I did not address whether or not you should get a public Adjuster. They get paid as a percent of the claim payout. I don't know if there is a lot of negotiation room based on situation. Because you might be using them on multiple claims you may be able to negotiate a better rate. If you will have trouble managing the 9 losses, it may be worth it. If all are total losses, I would talk to your agent and the adjuster to find out how it will be handled. If they are going to pay policy limits, there may not be as much reason to hire someone.
