Why don't home insurance companies act as a real estate broker
I had a thought why insurance carriers do not act as a real estate broker as well. It seems like a great idea for new business because once you sell a home you can offer your insurance product. Also, if a customer of your insurance needs to cancel their policy they can come straight to their insurance carrier to sell the house for them. This seems like a great way for insurance carriers to add a division and expand their brand. I understand there is some value for the agents that sell your insurance with real estates agents for referrals. Is this the reason we do not see this because it would eliminate that relationship between real estate broker, insurance agents and carriers? Is there some legal conflict that makes this impossible?
