Hey BP Community!

New to REI - starting off my first investment with a Duplex located in Southeast Michigan.

What type of insurance should I be looking for?

Can anyone refer a good insurance provider?

Thanks,

Courtney

@Courtney Dziewit

first, if you are going to rehab the property beyond paint and carpet, then you may need to go with a policy that can handle the vacancy and rehab.  Most insurance policies want the property rented and you can get claims denied if the property is vacant for more than 60 days.

Once you have it finished and rented, you need a Dwelling fire/Rental property policy.  A Renters policy is meant for the renter, not the landlord.
