Escrow delayed at additional cost due to insurance agent screw up

My insurance agent neglected to put in the state abbreviation when submitting the mortgagee's address for my insurance policy, and this delayed the processing of the policy to the extent that escrow was postponed for lack of sufficient evidence of insurance at the anticipated closing date.  Human error, fine, I get it, but in this case it will cost me some money in terms of additional holding costs.  Do I have any recourse here to collect these costs from the agent or the insurer?  Dude was clearly negligent!
