Insurance Coverage in New Orleans.

My wife has a small home in New Orleans Louisiana that she inherited from her father when he passed in 2008. She's decided to rent it out but it has not been insured since that time. Since this will be the start of our real estate investing journey (opposed to our current residence) we wanted to know if we should look into a regular homeowners/flood insurance policy or an umbrella policy since we'll be acquiring additional rentals in the near future? To throw a wrench in this we currently reside in Columbus Ohio so I'm not sure you can have property in different states under an umbrella policy.

Any suggestions or information would be helpful and appreciated...
